Leila is back and she’s had a bit of an upgrade! 🤩 A few weeks ago, we shared Leila’s story: a five year old who, inspired by her parents, dressed as a Premier Inn employee for her school careers day. The post caught the attention of our uniform suppliers, Dimensions, who jumped at the opportunity to create a made to measure uniform just for Leila. Every little detail was thought of, even a child-safe design with a fixed bow to prevent choking hazards. Dimensions also surprised Leila with a teddy bear in its own (even smaller!) uniform 🧸 Karen Harper, our Account Manager at Dimensions, says: “Our relationship with Premier Inn means so much to us. It’s always a pleasure to go above and beyond for our customers, and seeing Leila’s excitement was incredibly rewarding. “People don’t always stop to think about uniform; usually, it’s just there to do a job. But it can also inspire. For Leila’s careers day, it became a way for a little girl to feel inspired. “Uniform also makes you feel part of a team, gives you pride in your company, and helps new starters feel included. Teenage team member becomes a Hotel Manager? It’s a bit of a theme here at Whitbread 👀 This A-Level Results Day we’re sharing Jordan’s story. She joined us fresh out of education with no clear goal, but stuck around for growth and opportunities, and most recently became a Premier Inn Hotel Manager! 🏨 8 years ago she joined us as shy Housekeeper and through determination, our internal progression course and an apprenticeship, she’s built a successful career somewhere she did not expect to stay for long. Here’s what Jordan had to say about her journey over the last few years👇 “My journey has been so unexpected, but I’m so happy here - If 16 year old me could see me now she definitely wouldn’t believe it. From Housekeeper to Ground Floor Team Member, Duty Manager and Hotel Manager, I’ve done nearly every role in this hotel - if you were to cut me, I’d definitely bleed purple. “I’m the youngest here… yet I’m in charge!” 😯 Bethany joined us aged 17 for a week of work experience as part of her college course. Six years later, she’s still with us and thriving as a Hotel Manager 🏩 She started part-time as an extremely shy Housekeeper, but over the years she’s taken on a range of roles, growing in confidence and developing her Whitbread knowledge. We chatted to her to hear more about her inspiring journey 👇 “I’m not going to lie, I’ve had a lot of career aspirations - I wanted to be Cabin Crew, a Driving Instructor, a Paramedic, all sorts! But it’s the people here at Whitbread who have kept me around and supported me to succeed. I was really shy when I started as a Housekeeper, but I gradually built up my confidence. I picked up shifts on reception, then became a Duty Manager, and eventually a Hotel Manager (with a few more roles in between!). If 17-year-old me could see me now, I think she’d laugh. Leon’s doing our Level 2 Production Chef Apprenticeship 👨🏻🍳🍳🥓🥞 After studying Hospitality and Catering at College, 18 year old Leon joined us as a Kitchen Team Member and has taken the next step in his career by enrolling on our Level 2 apprenticeship. Here’s what Leon says 👇 “I really wanted to get a qualification whilst I was here and the apprenticeship was a great option. Through the course I’m getting the chance to learn so much and I am even able to go to another site to learn about different kinds of food service and menus.
